Types of friction materials for clutches and brakes

The friction material is one of the most important parts of clutches and brakes. The use of excellent friction materials can make the machine more reliable, safe and sensitive.
Friction materials can be divided into the following 5 categories according to the material of the product:
1. Asbestos friction material
Asbestos friction materials are mostly used for reinforcing materials. Asbestos friction materials have disadvantages such as poor high-temperature friction performance and asbestos fiber pollution.
It has been banned in developed countries abroad.
2. Semi-metal friction material
Semi-metallic materials have thermal stability, energy consumption, good wear resistance, good thermal conductivity, and low environmental pollution, but the braking noise is large, the density is slightly higher, and the cost is higher.
Used for the braking of cars and heavy vehicles.
3. Mixed fiber friction material
Mixed fiber friction materials are used as reinforcing materials to give full play to the advantages of each fiber, make up for defects and reduce costs.
Used for brake pads of light and medium-sized cars.
